Credit tips, repair & preparation

Your credit is a starting point.
Let’s build a plan.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before we talk. Understanding your credit can help you choose a few manageable next steps toward your homeownership goal.

Start with your reports.

Review your credit reports for accounts you don’t recognize, incorrect balances, and other errors. Checking all three reports gives you a fuller picture.

Protect on-time payments.

Payment history matters. Consider reminders or automatic minimum payments, and keep enough money in the account to avoid a missed payment.

Give your cards breathing room.

Utilization compares reported card balances with credit limits. Lower balances can help, but there isn’t a single percentage that guarantees a score or approval.

See what a smaller balance could look like.

Enter card balances and limits. Explore a target and the amount you’d need to pay down to reach it. Amounts stay in this browser tab and aren’t sent to Jordan.

This is balance planning, not a credit-score prediction. The time estimate ignores interest, new charges, and changes to limits. Individual card utilization also matters. No score increase or loan approval is guaranteed.

Credit repair: begin with what’s accurate.

If something is wrong, you can dispute it with the credit bureau and the company that reported it, at no cost. Accurate negative information generally can’t be removed just because it affects your score. Be cautious of promises to erase accurate information or guarantee a specific score.

If you’re preparing to apply for a mortgage, let’s coordinate your plan before opening or closing accounts or making major changes. We can talk through the timing together.
